Who is IMPETUS Plastics?
The Impetus Plastics Group combines an engineering company for product development with in-depth know-how in the field of plastics and injection moulding production for technical functional components. IMPETUS Plastics implements projects in industries with a high innovation density and high standards. IMPETUS Plastics’ ability to adapt to the respective industry-specific conditions and to deliver high-quality results on time and on target has made it a valued partner for many years in the automotive, electronics, medical technology and heating/sanitary climate sectors, as well as in the white goods, packaging and optical industries.
Impetus Plastics brings almost 20 years of experience in the development and construction of plastic products to the projects. IMPETUS injection moulding supplies more than 40 million components worldwide every year.
Why should I buy an injection moulded part instead of a 3D-printed part?
Prototype parts from take-it-original have the properties induced by the injection moulding process and those desired by the selected material – and not just “material-like” properties as in rapid prototyping. The surfaces of the parts are free of “steps” as they are usually created in additive manufacturing processes. With our take-it-original concept you receive components at prices that are somewhat higher than 3D printed components, but which offer the properties of the selected series material as well as improved surface qualities and are suitable for extensive functional tests. In addition, large quantities of components are quickly available.
Does the IMPETUS Group have its own pilot facility?
Yes, in order to be able to quickly convert the solutions developed for prototypes and small series into injection moulded components, our injection moulding pilot plant is located directly at our development site in Bad Aibling. Our second development site is in Aachen and our injection moulding production is located in Meschede.
How do I get a quote?
Simply contact us – by phone or e-mail – send us your 3D data (if available) and tell us your wishes regarding quantity, surface quality, tolerances or materials (if already known). Our plastics experts are at your disposal for a design check and all your component requirements. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
I do not have a 3D CAD model. Can you create one for me?
If you need help transferring your ideas into a 3D CAD model, just give us a call or send us an e-mail. Our experienced engineers are happy to design your ideas into plastic-compatible 3D CAD models. We are happy to advise you in detail, also in the selection of materials.
Who will own the mould or mould inserts afterwards?
Tool inserts converted into IMPETUS master forms shall normally remain the property of IMPETUS. As standard, we keep the inserts for 12 months. However, we are also happy to make other arrangements. In the case of series (start-up) tools, these always become your property after complete payment.
Which part sizes are currently manufactured in the take-it-original concept?
Because we build steel tools in most cases, we are rarely limited in size. We manufacture both small and large prototype parts and small series. For example, component lengths of 600 mm or projected areas of 100,000 square mm or part weights of 500 grams are no problem.
What about the quality?
We have a simulation centre with highly trained and experienced calculation engineers for both the rheological and mechanical design of components and tools. It is therefore a matter of course for us that the tools and components manufactured by us are calculated and designed in advance with regard to production and, if requested by the customer, also with regard to component loads.
Dimensions, tolerances or surfaces can be agreed according to the materials and the values to be achieved in injection moulding.
In the case of prototype tools, we will be happy to advise you on which requirements should be included, also from cost point of view.
What file types can you send us?
You are welcome to send us native files, e.g. SolidWorks, CREO, CATIA, NX files as well as 3D CAD volume models from other CAD systems in IGES or STEP format. STL files can also be used for an offer. Just give us a call and discuss the most suitable data formats with us.
